about Koa

The koa tree (acacia koa) is a beautifully grained hardwood that was traditionally used for canoes, and is today used for furniture, musical instruments, paneling and bowls. This native to Hawaii grows to grand stature and its embodiment of strength and beauty inspires us to create solutions both functional and elegant.

Our mission is to provide an intelligent, measured and thoughtful approach to web design and marketing. With a broad range of promotional, technical and creative resources at our disposal we can customize a solution that is appropriate for our client.

Our work has taken us from the sands of Waikiki to the eastern shores of the Greek Isles, to the long summer days of Stockholm and the barrier reef of Belize, to American cities from coast to coast and, of course, back to our home on old Cape Cod. We have worked with hundreds of clients, educating them about web marketing practices and developing solutions based on their needs and resources.

Principal Bert Jackson founded Koa Media in 2005. Prior to Koa, Bert was a founding partner of MMI Inc. in 1995, one of the first web design firms in the region. His background incorporates a technical education that goes back to computer punch cards, sales and marketing  expertise, and even a decade of restaurant ownership. Bert also serves as president of the Cape Cod Technology Council.

When not scheming on behalf of clients, Bert plays a bit of jazz and eclectic guitar and promotes sustainable, organic living. And he makes the occasional pilgrimage to the koa trees in Hawaii.
